Taiwan has launched a new scholarship program that prioritizes higher education for children of Thai citizens working in Taiwan and also for disadvantaged families, according to Taiwan’s representative office in Thailand.
Three scholarships will be available per year. Applications can be submitted starting on September. To be eligible, applicants must be studying graduate programs in Taiwan, the office said.
The scholarship stipend is NT$160,000 (US$5,270) for doctoral students and NT$120,000 for master’s degree students.
This new scholarship program intends to promote relations between Taiwan and Thailand. It is also a way for Taiwan to show appreciation for the contribution of Thai migrant workers to the country’s economic development.
